Have been here twice and have loved it. Once tent caning but most recently with my trailer on a tent site and it was spacious. I will say it was the last one available so we got the handicap spot which may be bigger than usual. No direct hook up but there is water fill up and dump station (extra $10 to dump). Hosts were really nice and helpful. Love how close it is to the lake with walking/bike paths. There are plenty of trees around for good shade (and beautiful). Bathrooms were clean and place was pretty quiet. Will most likely come back again.
Been here 2 times so far. Once in winter during snow 2022 and recently about 1 month ago. I camped at sites 100 and 97 in the evening star loop. Good tree coverage for hammocks & clean bathrooms and there's hosts on site. Staff are friendly and answer your questions thoroughly. Great, clean campsite
Big campground.
The site is spacious. Well maintained.
Most of the sites have shading, in the forest.
Close to the trail to the lake, good for hiking or biking.
Near the trail head of cougar crest trailhead to go to PCT, the Pacific Crest Trail.
You can also drive to the PCT about 3.5 Miles, off-road drive. The road is better to go with SUV, but it is doable with sedan.
Near the lake Marina, good to have any water activities, boating kayaking or fishing.
One of my favorite camp sites ever. There is a walking and bike trail right by the lake. A general store, fire wood. Clean bathroom, the showers are not good I would skip that part but it's there. The town is close by. I would definitely come back and rent a double site and invite a lot of people .
This is a great place to visit Big Bear. Ken/Catherine, Julie & Lori - Campground Hosts- made our trip incredible. They truly make this a great location to camp. They'll go out of their way to make your trip great. Just keep in mind that the simple rules the camp ground has, should be followed by all the visitors.
Nice campground, decent space between campsites. Nice bathrooms. Evening Star Loop is furthest back so is closest to the highway, so you get traffic noise. Good access to the lake bike/walking path.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this campground. The spaces were adequate size, the facilities are extremely well-maintained, the staff are nice & helpful, shaded, and great location! We will definitely be back!
We traveled as couple and were looking for a little more peace and quiet. Lots of kids and dogs. Difficult to sleep past 7 30 am due to noise level. Cold showers that turn off after approx 15 to 30 seconds forcing you to repeatedly get blasted with ice cold water as there is no way to adjust the shower head. Bathroom was clean. Setting beautiful. Name of our area ' lakeview' was misleading. No lake view anywhere. You have to cross the road down a little dirt trail to get access to a mile stretch of dirty shallow algee water not suitable for fishing. California fishing license $20 1 day non residence and had to drive 5 miles for a fishing spot. Most of the lake is not accessible (at least not easily) and much of the access property is privately owned. $50 (2 fishing licenses andvwxtra bait) 5 hours not a single bite beginning of august. Probably wont be back to area and at $40 a night a cabin seems not much more. Also in this day and age campgrounds should consider charging stations for cellphones. The only electric was in the bathroom which is not exactly a pleasant hang out. There were large groups of people camping (8 is maximum per spot), other tents about 10 to 25 feet away. My pix don't reflect that because I wasn't comfortable taking pictures of other peoples camps.
